Miramichi Flooded Out, Again !!

Well , there is nothing like having a good raise of water in June to help move salmon into the system , but this is a little too much . The river came up yesterday then last night we got hit with severe thunderstorms again so this morning we are washed out , again ! It will not hurt the fish but we don’t expect to be back to decent fishing conditions till Tues or Wed . Of course the big trout on the Cains are loving this , cool high water with tons of food on the bottom and no anglers around to nag them .

    Hi Keith,

I enjoy your river report and read it most days. I (along with 3 other friends) was up to the Lower section of the Cains hook and release on June 18/19th. We ended up fishing mostly the Acadia Bridge pool and hooked 4 trout in the 1-2 lb range. The water conditions were higher than ideal, however, the trout were quite active and took bombers off the surface at dusk.

Hi Keith, we too were on the Cains this weekend canoeing from Acadia bridge Friday 17th to take-out at Shinnickburn Sunday 19th. Good fishing on Crown reserve Friday but no sea trout in evidence. Lots and lots of rain and high water but the trout were still feeding despite the murky water. The only way we could have been any wetter would have been to upset! Great fun for a bunch of (much) older kids.
