I made my first trip to the Cains ( Hopewell Pool ) last evening with hopes of getting into an early sea-run brook trout . The water was the perfect height and despite the record high air temps it was a very enjoyable evening . No shortage of blackflies and just before a dark there was a good May-Fly hatch but no sign of trout yet . With rain coming this week the river should stay in good shape and I predict an earlier than usual run this year . If anyone has word from further down river please comment .
