Due to the early ice out ( late March ) and warmer weather , the fish are most all
gone from the upper Miramichi. Jack O’Brien was lucky on this evening with two
nice salmon hooked and this one landed . This 33 inch beauty took a grey ghost
on a cast into the heavy water between two small islands. The Wilson lodge is still dedicated to fly-fishing , unlike some areas of the lower Miramichi where it is common to sit on your butt and “TROLL ” from a moving boat . Luckily for us , due to many small islands, channels , pockets and even some big water , the most productful and most enjoyable method for fishing Wilson’s “PRIVATE ” water is for the “Real ” Fly-Fishermen to stand and cast . This method may be a little more challenging but we promote fly-fishing not trolling. All our guides are professional( Guide One )and DO NOT FISH IN YOUR BOAT, this is your time to learn from a “real professional guide “, this is your time to fish . And we catch almost as many fish here as the trollers do
down river and in a less crowded and much more pleasant fishing atmosphere .
