Heavy rain over the weekend was a blessing for the long haul, but messed up the first signs of Salmon fishing this month. We began picking up salmon on the Miramichi Thursday night on the lower pools then a wash- out this morning. The raise in water is just what we need though and the timing is perfect for our June fishing. As the water began rising on the Cains last night , the Sea-run trout were hitting big wholly-buggers high up on the bars in fast moving water . Nice trout ranging from 12 – 19 inches smashing the fly just as it hit the water . The summer migration into the headwaters is obviously in full swing and 10 days early .
