There has been a lot of talk and pictures on Facebook of fish in the Southwest Miramichi system. I have some good news for the Northwest system anglers as reports of fish caught there are also now surfacing. Roger Earle from Rhode Island visited me at the hatchery and was happy to report he caught a salmon at 94 Pool and a grilse at Guy’s Pool on the Little Southwest this week. I also have attached pictures of two beautiful fish caught by Kris Aldag and his father Roger (Roger played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders) yesterday. It was their first time salmon fishing! The trap net in Chatham was fishing gaspereau this week and on Wednesday caught 9 salmon and 13 grilse. We will begin fishing that trap next week as part of the mark-recapture stocking assessment so I should have daily catches for you for the next month or so. Nola Chiasson
