Fly-fishing conditions for Atlantic salmon on the upper Miramichi River could not be better for mid August . The water is still higher than normal and staying cool . And best of all we have a good number of salmon around . No doubt they are acting like August fish, on and off and sometimes none at all but it is encouraging to have good water and decent weather and to know that there are more big salmon in the system than grilse on most days . Bombers are of course the fly of choice for most successful anglers .
