Atlantic salmon fly-fishing conditions for the Miramichi River near McNamee for June 1st . The river is in absolutely superb condition as we enter the critical month of June . The water is up again this week app. 10 inches and staying cool . Farmers are complaining about the wet soggy weather and even I am not happy that I have 250 yards of top soil to spread , and can’t , but this is what we need right now . We are receiving reports of some nice salmon being caught already . The DFO science people are predicting another good year for Atlantic salmon and from what we see so far that is what we are in for . For those with the urge to get into “the best of the best” I suggest getting on the water now . You might fish all weekend without a strike but when it does happen you are not going to get a better fish on a fly-rod than these early run salmon . I fished the Cains this week with mixed results , the water is high and trout are on the move . I managed two nice 18 inchers one evening on a #10 green machine with white calf tail .
