Atlantic salmon fly-fishing conditions for the Miramichi River at McNamee for August 3rd . The river is finally down to a normal mid summer level .This is a picture of the EJ Run pool in late fall but the height is about the same now . Some of the pools are too low but most others are in excellent condition . Water temps began to rise into the low seventies these last few afternoons and evenings so most of our success has been in the mornings . We are still catching some beautiful “fresh run” grilse . Most are taken on small black flys or green machines but for people like myself that that dream bomber fishing then just about any color will work as long as it is presented properly. Dead drift works best and don’t leave it on the water very long .
